Alright so after Jenny goes ‘Missing’ and Will goes into hiding, Ben and Chris move out of the country to go live with Grandpa Carter. Now, here is where the timelines diverge;

Instead of keeping to himself in the canon timeline, Will instead reaches out to Chris in secret. Encrypted letters, late-night phone calls, anything to keep in touch. Early on Chris is sickened that Will would ever try to form a relationship after learning the truth about the murders, but Will stays firm.

Slowly, Will carefully constructs a manipulative relationship with Chris, and eventually convinces him to come back to Hurricane. After that, he and Will meet in person. And start collaborating. Will helps Chris buy back pieces of the franchise until it’s under Afton control again.

Will convinces Chris to do small, petty crimes for him. Stealing, breaking and entering. Then it escalates until it grows to kidnapping, torture, and murder. No kids this time, just adult victims. A part of Chris actually enjoys doing so but he knows its Very Awful. Ben doesn’t know whats going on behind the curtains and Chris is forced to keep him out of it. When Mike comes to Hurricane, it complicates some things.

Mike’s happy to see Chris thrive as a business owner and is quick to take up the job as a security officer. Chris keeps a cold facade to keep Mike away from him but Mike’s a warm person who wants to know more about Chris. So then Chris has to juggle between being an underground criminal and keeping his father satisfied while also trying to be a normal human being. It sucks.
